The City of Indianola announced Jacob Meshke as their new City Manager Monday evening, making a selection after a months long search. Meshke is currently the deputy city manager for the City of Brookings, South Dakota and has been since 2019. Prior to that, he previously served as the assistant village administrator in Bayside, Wisconsin for three years, after moving back from Arizona where he completed his master’s degree in public administration at Arizona State University.

Indianola Mayor Steve Richardson tells KNIA News the selection may have taken longer than they initially hoped, but making the right choice was very important to the council.

“We felt really good about the process that we went through, and the fact that he commands right now budgets and personnel larger than what we will in Indianola even though he hasn’t been a city administrator on his own. We felt good about that. He also checks a lot of other boxes for us. He’s in a college town, he’s very well versed in economic development and finances, and a number of other things. We just felt he was the right choice at the right time.”
