The Jasper County Board of Supervisors have kept county spending for Fiscal Year 2026 in line with the current year. The county budget for July 1st, 2025 to June 30th, 2026 was unanimously approved by the board of supervisors during their meeting on Tuesday, and Chairman Brandon Talsma said he was pleased that the county’s taxpayers will actually be paying a little less.
“We are certifying for six dollars less than what we collected last year. I am pretty proud of the fact we are doing that.”
Jasper County’s 2026 Fiscal Year Budget includes a $9.68 levy rate for countywide and rural services, which will generate over $17.4 million in property taxes.
Also at Tuesday’s Meeting, the board of supervisors set May 6th as the dates for public hearings related to the Jasper Rail Park project. The county is working to purchase approximately 249 acres for the creation of a 400 acre industrial park just southeast of the TPI wind blade plant northeast of town. The newly acquired land would be added to property within the city and owned by Iowa Interstate Railroad, to make-up the industrial park.
