
Pella Christian Girls Tennis Remains Unbeaten, Boys Tennis Falls at Indianola
The Pella Christian girls tennis team remained undefeated Tuesday night in a 7-4 home win over Indianola, while the boys tennis team fell on the road to the Indians 9-2.
Picking up their second 7-4 victory in as many nights, the Eagle girls won four of the six singles matches, and picked up three wins in doubles play. Pella Christian’s singles victories came from Reagan DeVries at #1 (2-6, 6-3, 1-0), Addie Van Arendonk at #3 (7-5, 6-4), Renae VanWyk at #5 (6-3, 6-4), and Kate Braafhart at #6 (7-5, 6-1). The Eagles improved to 7-0 overall on the season and 3-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference matches by securing win in the #3, #4, and #5 spots in the doubles lineup from the duos of VanWyk and Braafhart (6-4, 6-4), Trinley Gibson and Nora Van Arendonk (6-1, 6-2), and Ali Pleima and Elsa Breems (7-5, 6-4).
In Indianola, the Pella Christian boys won two of the six singles matches, but fell in all five contests in doubles play. The lone victories for the Eagle boys came from Rob Schreur at #2 singles (6-2, 6-4) and Rhett Terpstra at #4 singles (6-2, 6-2). The loss was just the second of the season for the Pella Christian boys, who dropped to 8-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Eagles girls tennis team returns to the court for their third and final match this week on Thursday at Oskaloosa, while the boys tennis team is off until traveling to Newton on Tuesday.

Pella Christian Soccer Teams Sweep Oskaloosa in Doubleheader on Eagle Lane
The Pella Christian girls soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Oskaloosa Tuesday night, while the boys soccer team capped off the doubleheader on Eagle Lane by defeating the Indians 3-0 in the nightcap.
In the opening game, the Oskaloosa girls got the scoring started with a goal in the 20th minute of the contest. The Eagles trailed until the 38th minute of the first half, when Maggie Vos’ corner kick found Maddie De Vries in the box, and DeVries headed the ball past the goalie for her first goal of the season. The 1-1 tie carried into halftime and lasted until the 73rd minute of the game, before Esther Ford beat the goalkeeper on a free kick from 24-yards out to give Pella Christian the win and improve their record to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
In the second game, the Eagles and Indians boys squads played nearly 30 minutes of scoreless soccer before the contest’s first goal. Pella Christian broke the 0-0 tie in the game’s 28th minute, when Finn Spronk’s throw-in bounced around the box and found the foot of Ethan Van Arendonk, who found the back of the net for his 20th goal of the spring. The Eagles added on two minutes later, when Van Arendonk found Ian Vander Molen across the net, and the freshman connected on his second goal of the season to push PC’s advantage to 2-0 going into halftime. Pella Christian added a goal in the 61st minute to secure the win, as a second Spronk throw-in bounced around in the box and Theo Hugen beat the defense for his 10th goal of the year. With the win, the Eagle boys improved to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Both Pella Christian Soccer Teams will return to the pitch on Thursday, with the boys hosting Sigourney Keota and the girls traveling to Chariton.

Pella Christian Boys Golf Takes 2nd in Second LHC Regular Season Meet
The Pella Christian boys golf team battled to a 2nd place finish at round two of the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season meets on Tuesday. The Eagles shot 314 as a team on the day, falling four strokes shy of Pella for the top spot, but still hold a ten stroke lead over the Dutch in the regular season conference standings. The Eagles were led by seniors Eliot Menninga and Connor VanZee Tuesday, with both shooting a five-over par 77 for the day to tie for fourth place. Seniors Cooper Spronk, Carter Brand and Deacon Branderhorst followed closely behind, with each recording an eight-over par 80 to tie for ninth place. Landon Fransman rounded out the varsity squad for the day with an 82 to place 13th. The Eagles will return to the course on Monday, competing in the PCM Invite at Gateway Recreation Golf Course in Monroe.

Pella Christian Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams Take 4th at Respective Meets
In their final tuneups ahead of the Drake Relays later this week, the Pella Christian boys and girls track and field teams each took 4th place at different meets on Tuesday. The Eagle girls scored 99 points at the EBF Eddy Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, while the boys team scored 92 points at the Bear Trax Classic at BGM.
In Brooklyn, the Pella Christian boys placed in the top two of six events, including winning three of them. Sawyer Meinders (4:53.99) and Dean De Ronde (4:54.34) gave the Eagles a one-two finish in the 1600m run, while Brecken Ritzert took the top spot in the long jump (20’ 6”). The other event victory for the Pella Christian boys came from the quartet of Jude Lubbers, Ritzert, Caleb Volk, and Adam Kacmarynski in the 4x100m relay (44.90). The Eagles added second place finishes from the 4x200m relay team of Logan Nunnikhoven, Lubbers, Garrett Wielard, and Ezra Ochsner (1:39.23) and the distance medley relay team of Kacmarynski, Volk, Ritzert, and Meinders (3.41.79).
In Eddyville, the Pella Christian girls secured top-two finishes in five events, including winning four of them. The event wins for the Eagle girls came from the 4x200m relay team of Rachel Kacmarynski, Bailey Vos, Amaia Agre, and Meredith Van Wyk (1:43.94); the sprint medley relay team of Lexi Terpstra, Kacmarynski, Van Wyk, and Vos (1:47.30); the distance medley relay team of Terpstra, Claire Westerkamp, Maisy Meinders, and Greta Vos (4:43.88); and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Chloe Nikkel, Brynn Runner, Ani Bell, and Heidi De Bruin (1:14.40). The lone second place finish for the Pella Christian girls came from the 4x100m relay team of Jessa De Vries, Meinders, Bell, and Agre (52.91).
The Eagles track and field teams will compete in the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Newton on Thursday, and those that qualified for the Drake Relays will compete in Des Moines Thursday through Saturday.
