Grading that will increase the view over Newton’s Westwood Golf Course from the newly built clubhouse, and complete the exterior drainage around the building, will be done by a company in Monroe. The Newton City Council has awarded the work to Crossroads Pipe & Grading Incorporated. The company’s low bid of $13,757 came in below the $27,000 that the project was estimated to cost. Three other bids were submitted from businesses in Reasnor, Sully, and Kellogg, and they also came in under the estimate. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says bond revenue will be used to pay for the project.
