The annual maintenance agreement between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Jasper County for roads within Rock Creek State Park was approved this week. Jasper County’s Supervisor unanimously approved the arrangement for July 1st through June 30, 2026.  Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says the payment to the county is the only change in the contract.

“The same stuff as last year. No different. Maybe the cost went up a little bit, but not much”

For doing snow and ice removal, roadside mowing and maintenance, and maintaining guardrails, traffic signs, and pavement markings, the Iowa Department of Transportation will pay the county $2,100 per lane mile. That amounts to $4,494 for the fiscal year. The Iowa Department of Transportation will be responsible for maintaining the pavement on the roads within Rock Creek State Park.
