Girls Tennis Ties Ballard For Invitational Title

The Knoxville Girls Tennis Squad and Ballard tied for 1st place at the Knoxville Girls Tennis Invitational on Friday. According to Coach Nick DeMoss, the Panthers and Bombers both scored 19 points but neither team had a 3rd place finisher and both teams were still tied after comparing head-to-head total games. Janie Maasdam dominated her way to the singles title dropping just one game all meet. After winning her first round match Addy Dunkin lost in the quarterfinals but came back to place 5th. In doubles Marlea Cox and Iselynn Prevo placed 4th while Bridgette Liston and Macy Cox placed 6th. DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his 2-7 players in singles are as close as he has ever seen, and that creates competition in practice.

DeMoss: “All of those girls 2-7 are pretty close together. We have a couple of newcomers and pick up the game very quickly and get better every single day.”

Knoxville is back in action Wednesday in a make up meet with Davis County.
