A local non-profit is bringing back a popular fundraiser to support their programs overseas. Many Hands is hosting Hotcakes for Haiti on Sunday at Third Church in Pella, between 7:30 am and 1:00 pm. Many Hands CEO Tim Brand says that this year’s free-will donations will go towards raising $20,000 to supply maternity kits for new moms in Haiti that are unable to afford the right supplies for their baby.

“For those that don’t know, we walk with women that are pregnant and children under the age of two, and we have over three hundred women and families that we walk with every single day. And so, this goes to support those women through food, vitamins, pre-birthing support and post-birthing support; because right now, the systems in Haiti continue to be in disarray and present a lot of hardship, and we have at least over 40 to 45% of our women that still give birth at home. So, there might be a midwife or there might not be a midwife there, and so what we do for them is provide kits for them and provide some support so they can have a safe birth because everyone deserves to have a safe birth when they are bringing a new child into the world.”
