A Sully truck driver was injured earlier this week when a Grinnell man’s SUV collided with his semi in southeastern Marshall County. The State Patrol is still investigating the accident at 6:13 a.m. Tuesday, which sent the SUV driver to a Des Moines hospital by LifeFlight. The Iowa State Police’s accident report says 84 year old Francis Von Soelen of Sully was driving a semi north on Highway 146, north of Gilman, when a southbound GMC Terrain crossed the centerline. The ensuing collision resulted in Von Soelen being taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Hospital in Marshalltown. The State Police say he was wearing a seatbelt while the other driver was not. That driver, identified as 21-year-old Drake Long of Grinnell, was flown to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. No update on either driver has been provided.
