The Knoxville City Council voted to approve the purchase of new storm siren radios during their regular meeting last night. Police Chief Dan Losada told the Council they discovered one radio had died during testing at the beginning of the month, and it was easier to replace them all at this time. New regulations will require all the radios be updated by next year, so it would be easier to get them all done at this time. The money to purchase the radios will come out of the seizure money budget.
The Council also approved an updated waiting list for the CDBG Grant. They noted that they wanted more public awareness about this grant so that those who are eligible can take advantage of it before they run out of time. The Council also set a public hearing for the sale of general obligation refunding bonds and approved the second of three considerations of the sewer use charge changes.
