[simage=7266,200,y,left] Republican State Senate Candidate Stephanie Jones was arrested this weekend after allegedly being involved in a fight. Shortly after 2:00AM Sunday morning, the Knoxville Police Department was called to the Dingus Lounge on North Lincoln Street in response to a call of a fight in progress. Jones was arrested after police arrived on scene. She has been charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Jones entered a plea of not guilty, and tells KNIA/KRLS News that she doesn’t understand why she was arrested. She adds that she will work to prove her innocence, and that she will continue her campaign for Senate.
Jones was released on $1,000 bond. She is set to appear in Marion County Court for trial on March 26th.
Jones is a candidate for the District 14 Senate seat. Competing with her in the Republican primary are Amy Sinclair of Allerton and Steve Everly of Knoxville.
