The downtown area will have a few more parking spaces soon. City staff have been looking at options for increasing the parking in the Central Business District for the past few months. They came up with a plan that will increase the number of spots downtown by around 60. Currently, parking space width varies from 8 to 12 feet across, that width will be standardized at 9 feet. The spots will also be angled at 60 degrees rather than 45. This will increase the number of spaces by ten per block. The new layout will be tried out on Franklin St, between Broadway and Main, for a trial run.
