The drought has begun to worsen across the state again, after rains that ended last week showed signs of temporary relief. Marion County hasn’t returned to the extreme drought designation that still grips more than 60 percent of Iowa. The county is still under a severe drought, with extreme drought conditions just north of the county line. Extreme drought has nearly returned to the percent it was at at the peak of the drought after a 10% drop last week. 67% of the state is in an extreme drought, just 3% lower than at its peak.
