Marion County will be featured as a centerpiece to next month’s Iowa-Iowa State football game. It starts on Wednesday, September 5th when TV-13’s RVTV heads into Knoxville. Chamber Director Larissa Van Donselaar says that they’re planning a huge array of games and challenges centered on the CyHawk rivalry. All roads but Main St. will be closed on the square to allow for hundreds of Knoxville residents to show their Cyclone and Hawkeye pride. Van Donselaar says businesses downtown will also be getting in on the act by decorating their storefronts in black, crimson, and gold. There will also be a pep rally at six, water fights between Knoxville City and Knoxville Rural Fire Departments, and many more activities.

The Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau will be celebrating the Iowa/Iowa State game when RVTV stops in town on Thursday, September 6th. They will host a variety of activities in the square, including a team tug of war and wooden shoe flag football. The event will close cause a road closure. Broadway, between Washington and Franklin, will be closed on Thursday, and the parking spaces on that block may possibly be closed for the morning hours on Friday, depending on what time the RV’s roll out.
