A Des Moines man was arrested for operating while intoxicated yesterday afternoon after he drove a Bobcat ATV into Marion County from Polk County. James Rodney Johnson was also charged with driving while barred, open container in a motor vehicle, and operating without owner’s consent. During the incident, Johnson allegedly blew a stop sign in a construction area, nearly causing a head-on collision. Johnson allegedly took the ATV from an area in West Des Moines and told the Marion County Deputy who arrested him that he was headed to Columbia. He was stopped on S-45 south of the Pleasantville “Y.” Johnson also indicated to officers that he had been drinking.
