A few Knoxville High School students are learning how to decipher information during this election season. Megan and Melissa Molloy and Jamie Hunt are currently taking part in a program called News Know How. The program comes as a grant to the Knoxville Public Library from the American Library Association.
Library Director Roslin Thompson says that the students are looking at stories in the news and learning how to distinguish valid sources and verify the information they find. Thompson says that they’ve learned quite a bit already and that the process has made them more aware and able to distinguish truth. The three students will be revealing their findings at the Library next month.
