In a tough conference such as the Little Hawkeye Conference that is filled with several athletes who participate in other sports, “handouts” or easy victories are few and far between. Having said that, track season is a battle at every meet, says Pella Christian head coach, Kevin Herdegen, and there will be no “sure things” in any event. Herdegen says he think his team can be a middle of the pack squad in the conference. He says that he doesn’t look at that as a bad thing, but rather a reflection of the amount of youth he has on the team, and how much improvement will happen over the season and over the course of their career. Herdegen cautions that Eagles’ fans should not be surprised to see these girls qualify for the state meet within the next couple of years.
