The month of May started with snow, but finished pretty close to normal temperature-wise in Marion County. The average high temperature was 71.3 degrees, a half-degree cooler than normal. It was, as you could probably guess, wetter than normal as well. We finished with about 6.89 inches of precipitation this month, nearly two-and-a-quarter inches more than normal.
Overall this spring, we received about 18 inches of rain, more than eight inches above normal, and we were about 4.5 degrees cooler than normal. Through the summer, the National Weather Service says we have equal chance of being above or below normal both for precipitation and temperature.
