The new boat ramp at Elk Rock State Park could be opened this Friday at the earliest, after months of construction. Iowa DNR Park Ranger Chad Rowson says construction is almost complete, as concrete has been poured for the six-lane ramp, and workers are currently reshaping roads and placing riprap along the shoreline. The new parking lot will have space for approximately 150 vehicles with trailers, and will be usable at higher lake elevations. Once the ramp is ready, boaters can launch free of charge. Residents can call 842-6008 for more information.
