Last week Twin Cedars Girls Basketball player Lindsay Hoehns became only the fourth girls basketball player in five-on-five history in Iowa to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. Last week she earned an honor for her efforts in the classroom. Hoehns became the second consecutive girl in Marion County to be awarded the E. Wayne Cooley Scholarship. Hoehns received the scholarship by being an outstanding athlete…plus an outstanding student in the classroom. Her coach Justin Nolte says it has been a honor to not only get to know Hoehns but to be her coach as well. Last year Knoxville’s Kaurie Kincaid earned the E. Wayne Cooley scholarship. Nolte ads having that happen in Marion County shows just how outstanding the student/athletes are in the county.
