Though the Cinderella story that was the Central men’s basketball team’s season came to a close on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament, the Dutch still opened up some eyes not just in Pella, but in other parts of the country. After their win over the Dutch, University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point head coach, Bob Semling tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that Central earned the respect not only of him but of the region and that it would be a travesty if Central didn’t garner national recognition in the final poll of the season. Dutch head coach, Craig Douma says a lot of the thanks to this fine season can be placed on the shoulders of their five fantastic seniors. Iowa Conference MVP, Matt Greenfield, along with Spencer Bakerink, Kevin Kaerwer, Yow and Fred Pratt all will graduate this spring but leave a lasting legacy on the program for years to come.
