Author and former Central professor Cynthia Mahmood is currently on campus as the Anthropologist-in-Residence through Thursday. She’s teaching classes, meeting with students and faculty, and presenting a lecture. Mahmood is currently associate professor of anthropology at the University of Notre Dame, and is an expert on India, especially religious motivations for militancy and the anthropology of violence, war and peace, terrorism, guerilla warfare and language and culture. Mahmood’s lecture titled “Religion and Conflict Resolution: Taking the Risk of the Face-to-Face” is at 7 pm on Tuesday evening inside the Cox-Snow Recital Hall.
