The Margaret A. Cargill Foundation recently awarded Central a grant that not only recognizes their previous work in global sustainability education, but also the direction the college is looking to take. The grant will also allow for the hiring of a new Director of Sustainability Education. Mary Strey, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, tells KNIA/KRLS that the faculty has infused their commitment by having students take courses in global sustainability as part of their core courses needed for graduation. College President Mark Putnam agrees that the faculty and their efforts have been a catalyst in the schools progress with projects such as working to be carbon free by 2053, Central’s bicentennial year.
