Three of the four sets went overtime, but Pella Christian’s volleyball team still prevailed over Newton in last night’s Little Hawkeye Conference opener. The Eagles dropped game one, 24 – 26, before coming back to win the next three 30 – 28, 25 – 18, and 26 – 24. Rebecca Gritters had an outstanding game with seven ace serves to go along with 14 kills, Andrea Horstman and Hannah Beltman each added nine kills of their own. With the win, the Eagles improve to 5 – 4 on the year, and they are off until this Saturday to play in a challenging Iowa City West tournament.
