To be the champ, you gotta beat the champ. For Central football, they’ll have to knock off the preseason favorite Wartburg Knights to perhaps shake things up a bit in the first game of the Iowa Conference schedule this afternoon. Wartburg is ranked in the top ten nationally, and are 3 – 0 this season. Central just recently beat up on a short-handed Maranatha Baptist squad two weeks ago, and appear to be rested and ready to take on the Knights. Games between Central and Wartburg have traditionally been low-scoring, like last year’s 16-14 Knights’ win in Waverly, but Dutch head coach Jeff McMartin says that his team has to find ways to light up the scoreboard if the red-and-white are going to be victorious today. Join Trevor Castle, George Wares, and Andrew Schneider live on 92.1 KRLS and online at KNIAKRLS.com for the call. Pregame begins at 12:40 p.m. with kick-off at one.
