A Mahaska County man, charged for his involvement in an accident near Bussey in October, could be facing additional charges after being involved high speed chase with police on Sunday.
Law enforcement officials tell KNIA/KRLS News 30-year-old Chadwick Paul Hynick was apprehended after a chase through Mahaska and Marion Counties Sunday. They say an Oskaloosa police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop when Hynick fled. He would later be caught by a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy in Mahaska County.
In early October, Hynick was arrested for allegedly operating a 4-wheeler along Highway G-71 that was involved with an injury accident where the driver of the 4-wheeler fled the scene. The 4-wheeler swerved in front a 1993 GMC Sonoma causing the 16-year-old driver to lose control and roll the vehicle. The driver of the 4-wheeler briefly returned to the accident scene, before turning and fleeing into Mahaska County. Hynick is charged with reckless driving, driving under suspension, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, and operating an all-terrain vehicle on the highway in that case.
Hynick is also facing charges in Mahaska County for a domestic assault on Oct. 27th.
For Sunday’s chase, Hynick has been charged in Mahaska County with Operating While Under the Influence, 3rd Offense, Eluding, three counts of Driving While License Denied or Revoked, and Possession of Marijuana, 3rd Offense. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 25th at 10:30am.
Oskaloosa Police, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and the Iowa State Patrol were all involved with Sunday’s chase.
