The Knoxville girls made sure there would be no repeat of a Norwalk upset last night as the Panthers jumped out to a 16-3 first quarter lead and cruised to a 57-34 win last night. Sam Abens was unconscious from long range as she was six-for-six from three point range and led Knoxville with 23 points. The Panther defense also came to play as Knoxville slapped a two/three zone defense on and allowed Norwalk few opportunities inside. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said they were willing to give up several threes to stop Norwalk’s inside game. 21 of Norwalk’s 34 points were from long range and just five baskets were of the two point variety. Knoxville improves to 21-1 on the season and will host Centerville Saturday in the Regional semi-final.
