Not having an answer from Des Moines on state supplemental aid is forcing schools districts across Iowa, including Knoxville’s, to set their budget based on receiving zero percent in state aid.
Knoxville School Superintendent Cassi Murra say the impact is not only felt by the school districts and their staff, but also by the student themselves. She says families are struggling economically and this could keep some students from getting the assistance they need.
Murra adds this will also impact the city’s property taxes.
