The Knoxville Rural Fire Department battled high winds to quickly put out a large grass fire Sunday afternoon.
It happened just after 3pm at a farm on Lisbon Drive, when a truck came out of gear, rolled down a dirt driveway, and took out a telephone pole. The wire sparked a grass fire in a ditch that quickly grew to over an acre in size and threatened a nearby barn.
Knoxville Rural Fire Chief Kenny Thompson says it took crews about 15 minutes to contain and put out the fire.
No one was injured and no other damage was reported. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the call.
