Although there was a property tax increase of $200,000 as part of the Knoxville city budget for fiscal year 2015-2016, City Manager Harold Stewart believes they were able to make sure the money was used wisely.

Stewart says they were able to approve a budget that was $300,000 less than the previous year. Stewart says it’s a progressive budget and incorporates the council’s priorities, including a significant investment in road improvements and sidewalks.
