Many school districts statewide have to share personnel with others as a way to save money.
Pella and Knoxville Schools have many agreements already in place, including a shared custodial operations supervisor position implemented last spring. Both districts will consider more agreements with one another at their meetings on Monday. Pella Superintendent Greg Ebeling says policies like these have become commonplace because districts can receive extra funding from the state if they share certain positions. He says a lack of an answer from the legislature in regards to a state aid increase has forced many school boards to creatively cut costs. The Pella and Knoxville school boards are set to approve their 2015-16 budgets on Monday.
