A decision by the Marion County Board of Supervisors on how they’ll proceed with the demolition of a building in downtown Knoxville is expected when they gather for their regular meeting Tuesday.

Marion County Maintenance Director Cal Stephens says everything will be in place to start immediately once the board makes a decision. He says crews are in place and if everything goes well with the inspections, demolition could begin by mid-week.
Stephens has provided the board with inspection reports and bid information on the project.
Once demolition begins, it can then be determined when businesses near the weakened building can reopen.
