The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for Marion County. Five to eight inches of snow are expected, as is blowing and drifting snow. Gusts may exceed 20 mph.
The Marion County Engineer’s Office urges residents to be prepared for the storm by stocking up on food, medicine and any emergency supplies, as if snow totals are as expected, it may take several days for crews to clear all county gravel roads.
As of this morning, plans were for county motor graders to work gravel roads north of HWY 92 late this morning and afternoon, if necessary as the storm develops. Motor grader crews will work south of HWY 92 beginning Monday at 4:00 AM, with the hope that most gravel roads will be open for travel by commuters and school buses in the early morning hours tomorrow. Plans are subject to change if conditions require.
