Unable to carry their momentum forth from an impressive series against Buena Vista last weekend, the Central baseball team was swept by Coe yesterday. The Dutch fell 3 – 2 and 7 – 3 to the Kohawks. Central racked up 15 base hits, but stranded a total of 17 runners en route to just five runs being put up on the board. Game one’s winning run in the bottom of the seventh came on a wild pitch, which spoiled another strong start by Andy Carr, who finished with 6 1/3 innings pitched with eight hits allowed, four walks, and three earned runs to fall to 3 – 1 on the mound. Zach Zylstra had four hits in the doubleheader. Central drops to 11 – 16 overall and 7 – 9 in conference play. They’ll play the final two games of the series today in Cedar Rapids.
