Their offense was stifled in the first two games of the series on Friday, but the Central baseball team did not let that last for long. They erupted for a total of 23 on Saturday, but only came away with a split with Coe. The Dutch struck early in game one, with a two-run first, followed by five more in the fourth, to win 8 – 0. Catcher Michael Reuter went 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs batted in, Kirby Coppess had three hits, and pitcher Dylan Diveney pitched the complete seven innings, scattering seven hits to pick up his third win of the year. The Dutch had a 5 – 0 advantage in game two going into the bottom of the fourth, but the Kohawks finally got the scoreboard to change on their side, scoring four in their at-bats to make a game of the nightcap. Central led 6 – 5 in the eighth, but Coe tied it and then Goerdt hit a walk-off bomb to lead-off the ninth to give his team a 7 – 6 victory over the Dutch. Central’s record now stands at 12 – 17, and they are 8 – 10 in the league. Before another four game series with Luther next weekend, Central must contend with Simpson for two games this Tuesday in the Tulip City.
