Handling some non-conference action Monday night, Pella Christian baseball and softball both came out on top over Sigourney. The Eagles’ baseball team punched by with a 9 – 5 win; both Dillon Branderhorst and Jason Holwerda clobbered home runs in the victory. On the softball diamond, a late seventh-inning run was the difference in a 5 – 4 win by the Eagles. PC scored four runs in the first, and didn’t score until Tessa Howerzyl scored after a two-out base knock by Amanda Harrill. Howerzyl finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Emma Schnell picked up two RBI going 1-for-3 offensively. Schnell struck out eight batters, and only gave up four runs while allowing 12 hits. PC softball is now 18 – 8, baseball swells to 10 – 15; the latter plays Lynnville-Sully at home, and the girls host Pella High tonight.
