The 5th Annual Red Rock Balloonfest takes off this evening.
Red Rock Lake Association President Matt Kissinger says the event has grown over the years. He says organizers try to add something new every year to make it an all-day event. This year, kite-flying has been added to the event.
All the launches will take place at North Overlook Beach.
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on hand playing music and making announcements on Saturday afternoon.
Balloon flights are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Additional activities include:
– Friday night, July 10 will feature D.J. Keri Garrison
– Saturday, July 11 also includes a Pancake Breakfast from 7:00-10:00am on North Overlook Beach, plus the annual 5K & 10K FUNdraiser Cross-Country Run.
– Saturday night, July 11 will feature the Rock Bottom Band performing live from 6:00-10:00pm at North Overlook Beach
Beer Garden and food vendors will be on hand both nights.
– “Let’s go Paddling” will be offered along the shore of the beach.
– The final balloon launch is scheduled for Sunday morning at 6:30am.
