A local organization is holding a pair of fundraisers for the Pella Community Food Shelf.

Pella Rotary will bus tables at the Pella Pizza Ranch on Monday evening, with proceeds going to the food shelf. Director Melissa Zula says Rotary approached their organization about the fundraiser, which reflects the generosity of many in the community.

“It’s so neat to be part of this organization, and have other organizations in our community help each other,” Zula says. “And this is just a great example of that.”

She says they are currently gearing up for the busy holiday season, including their annual Thanksgiving boxes program, which collects food for families in need of a feast.

“What we need is more than twenty churches and organizations to help provide the contents for that box,” she says. “It is an entire meal for a whole family, so it’s a very generous and kind gift to share with our neighbors.”

Zula adds they are also starting to collect and hand out winter gear.
