The Gladys Black Raptor Learning Site in Marion County was the release location for two young ospreys earlier this month. That’s according to Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz. She says Marion County Conservation Board and Iowa DNR staff, volunteers and supporters all worked hard to secure the release of the two birds, which were part of the Iowa Osprey Project. Mertz says these ospreys are now preparing for the upcoming fall migration to South and Central America sometime in mid September.
