A man died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics parking lot Thursday morning.
Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News the police and fire departments were dispatched to the hospital on a report of a dead body related to a firearm. First responders discovered the body of the man near the emergency room doors of the hospital. The medical examiner determined that he was deceased as the result of a gunshot wound. After processing the scene the body was released to the state for autopsy. No foul play is suspected. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid expressed his condolences to the family on the loss of a loved one. Kincaid and Losada agreed that the hospital staff handled the situation calmly and courageously.
