The owners of the new Cellar Peanut Pub in Pella have been hard at work with preparations for their grand opening Monday.
Marty and Betsy Duffy tell KNIA/KRLS News they’ve been meeting with city officials over the past few months to open the establishment on Franklin Street. The Cellar Peanut Pub’s location in Oskaloosa has won multiple national and state awards for their bloody marys, and the Duffy’s hope to bring the same level of service to customers in Pella.
“We want people to be able to have a conversation at the tables, the music won’t be super loud,” Marty says. “We’re obviously not a club, we’re a pub.”
“We will bring in some education as well–we’re really, really behind Iowa and support local,” Besty says. “We will have breweries come in, especially local breweries from Iowa come in with 30 Iowa craft beers.”
The two say they’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support ahead of their opening date.
“It is absolutely humbling, I’ve never seen or felt anything like this,” Betsy says.
They plan to sell all craft beer, with many different Iowa breweries highlighted, including Peace Tree in Knoxville.
