It was a mixed Tuesday for the Pella High soccer squads in two different locations. Fighting through the rain at the end, the Class 2A No. 2-ranked Lady Dutch pounded Indianola, 5 – 0. The first half was a bit slow going for Pella in their 2016 season debut; the lone goal was scored by Kayla Langstraat at nearly the halfway mark. The rust was shaken off in the final 40 minutes, as Pella scored three of their four second-half goals in a 14 minute span. Alice Lickteig, Lexi Brown, Ciara Buchheit, and Emma Thoreson all found the back of the nylon in the final period for the now 1 – 0 Lady Dutch. The boys had a nearly opposite outcome go against them, falling to Dallas Center – Grimes 3 – 0. All three of the Mustangs’ goals came in the first half. The Little Dutch are now 0 – 2 to begin the year, and both teams return to action on Thursday; the ladies have their home opener versus Bondurant – Farrar, and the boys travel to face Fairfield.
