An improbably rally from down 8 – 2 in a third-set tiebreaker gave West Adelman a win in his singles’ match against Luther. Saturday marked the final home game of the senior’s career, and after he lost set one 7 – 6, Adelman was not willing to go out on a low note. He triumphed 6 – 4 in the second set, before recording what Coach Ryun Ferrell called “a brilliant performance” in the 10-point super-tiebreaker third set. Unfortunately, the Dutch went on to lose the match, 8 – 1, to fall to 4 – 3 in Iowa Conference play and 10 – 9 overall. The quarterfinals of the league team tournament start next Friday, with the opponent to be determined.
