Competing at Van Meter last night for a chance to go to the Blue Oval for the Iowa State High School Track and Field Meet, three area schools would all produce athletes to compete with the states best.
For the Pella Christian Eagles, the girls would send a pair of athletes, with Morgan Fopma placing second in the high jump and Lizzy Van Maanan would place first in the discus.
Pleasantville will be sending sophomore standout Hunter Tyree who placed second in the long jump, and the team as a whole would place 10th.
The PCM Girls had a very successful night, as they will send three individuals and two teams. Ashley Van Gorp placed second in the long jump, Rachel Stafford placed second in the 800m, and Jayci Vos continued to dominate the 400 hurdles placing first. Also qualifying for the Lady Mustangs was a plethora of running teams, the Distance Medley team placed first, the 4×200 team would place second, and the 4×400, 4×800 and the Sprint Medley Team would also qualify. The Lady Mustangs as a team would finish in third, just six points shy of Madrid. For the PCM Boys, they are still waiting on a host of third place finishes to get the final tally from the state to see if anyone qualified for them.
The state qualifiers still have some spots yet to be decided, as wild card qualifiers can be decided later today for third place finishers. KNIA/KRLS will have all local state track qualifiers updated as soon as they are released.
