In a blur, we have gone from 40 and 50 degree temperatures to consistently more comfortable conditions. And in that same period, the high school track and field season has sped from meet number one to today’s start of the state meet in Des Moines at Drake Stadium. There will be plenty of green jerseys this morning; a total of 12 events will have some Pella High Lady or Little Dutch athlete competing. Boys’ coach, Brent Van Hauen, is confident that with the number of events they qualified over these three days, they can make a run at a high team-standings finish. The girls’ shuttle hurdle relay begins the festivities for Pella at approximately 9:20 a.m.
In other action, the Lady Dutch will host the singles and doubles regional tennis tournaments today at Caldwell Park. Pella Christian and Knoxville will also be in attendance for today’s meet. Pella’s scorching girls’ golf team wraps up the regular season at home versus Fairfield this afternoon; the girls’ soccer squad will face-off against Class 3A No. 1-ranked Ankeny Centennial on the road tonight and the boys are at home versus Perry to wrap up their regular season. KNIA/KRLS Sports will provide results from the Blue Oval throughout the day as event results are finalized.
