The Knoxville City Council will hold a town hall meeting tonight to let the community weigh in on the creation of a storm water utility tax.
City Manager Aaron Adams says that the storm water systems in Knoxville are in a state of disrepair and heavy rains cause significant damage each year. Adams warned that without proper investment in storm water systems the DNR may require the City of Knoxville to begin treating waste water. The rate of the tax would be determined by the amount of surface that doesn’t allow water penetration a landowner has. The town hall meeting will be held at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center at 6:15 p.m.
