At the latest Thursdays in Pella event, Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt joined members of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in discussing the importance of K9 Units.
Sandholdt says Marion County does not have a certified drug dog, but his office is working on making it happen soon.
“We have a great working relationship with Jasper County, and they are more than willing to come and assist us, but it’s something that we really don’t want to keep asking,” he says. “My goal is within the next year to have a K9 here in Marion County.”
Sandholdt says they rely on Jasper County, the Monroe PD, and other agencies for assistance when a K9 Unit is required.
