The Knoxville Baseball Squad has been blessed with solid catchers the last couple of seasons, and it looks like the Panthers will have another nice athlete behind the plate in Patrick Crawford next year. Crawford improved during the season being the backup catcher to Calyn Bumgardner, and showed how good he can be when pressed into varsity action at the end of the season this year. Coach Joel Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with Crawford the provisional starter next season, someone else will have to step into the backup role. Johnson also is wondering what to do with Ben Wallace. He will still be one of the main starters on the mound, when not pitching, does he still play first base where he saved several errors and baserunners this season or shift him over the third base where there will be a need after D.J. Snyder’s graduation.
