Fans of sprint car racing at Knoxville Raceway have a chance to see what they can do on a small scale later today.
Cory Burgett is the operator of Leighton Speedway, which features Sprint Car races with scaled models controlled by remotes.
“Leighton Speedway is a 200 foot driveline, semi-banked, loose dirt oval designed specifically for 1/10th scale electric RC sprint cars, late models, and modifieds,” Burgett says.
He tells KNIA/KRLS News the vehicles used in the races are specifically designed to replicate real sprint cars.
The Leighton Raceway Nationals are being held in conjunction with the 56th annual Knoxville Nationals today at noon on Jackson Street in Leighton.
