In what the Eagles hope is their last road trip until a potential UNI Dome visit, No. 2 Pella Christian aims to guarantee the number one seed and a district title with a win against Central Decatur.
After cruising by likely 2nd place Pleasantville last week, PC hopes to continue their unprecedented roll over 1A football, averaging a best-in-11-man football 58 points per game.
Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says the Cardinals will play a two-deep zone to prevent the home run plays the Eagles have made look easy all year. He says the team will take advantage of numerous underneath opportunities.
“For the most part, they’re determined not to get beat deep,” Kacmarynski says. “We’ve been able to exploit some other teams who are playing three guys deep. So I think it’ll be interesting to see if we can get any of our guys lose deep or not.”
Pella Christian will clinch the district championship with a win and with it a first round home playoff game. Coverage from Leon begins at 6:30 with Andrew Schneider and Larry Hessing on 92.1 KRLS, with kickoff at 7 p.m. from the home of the Central Decatur Cardinals.
