Wartburg treks to Pella today for an Iowa Conference rivalry matchup against Central College.

The Dutch snapped a two-game losing streak with a 43-17 win over Nebraska Wesleyan last week to improve to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Iowa Conference.

Wartburg is also coming in off back-to-back victories over Loras and Simpson, and sits at 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the IIAC.

While they’ve both lost to Coe, and are likely out of playoff contention, today’s winner positions themselves well for a high finish in the league, and earns bragging rights against their rival.

“It’s a great rivalry and they’re a great team”, said Dutch coach Jeff McMartin. “Anytime you have a chance to play someone good and who is someone that year in and year out you need to beat to be a conference champion or have a greaet season – you always get excited for those opportunities.”

Central has lost three straight to the Knights.

Kickoff today is at 1:00 at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. Trevor Castle, George Wares and Libbie Randall will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 12:35.
